On Saturday, 31 August 2019, a whole-day trip will be organized for conference participants in the Orava region. Several options specified below will be offered, but some details can change or be agreed before or during the trip, depending on the preferences of participants and on the weather conditions.

Light trekking shoes are sufficient for trip A, while good hiking clothes and footwear are strongly recommended for trips B and C.

A) Cultural and technical monuments of the Orava region (by passenger cars of the participants, departure from hotel 8:00)

Nižná – Tvrdošín (wooden gothic church of All Saints, UNESCO World Heritage site) – Orava dam (sightseeing cruise combined with a tour of the exhibition on the Slanica Island of Art) – Klin (monumental statue of Jesus Christ on a hill with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside on the Slovak-Polish border) – Oravská Lesná (journey on the historical narrow-gauge Orava Forest Railway) – Nižná

B) Medium difficult hiking (departure from hotel 7:30)
Zverovka – Ťatliakova chata – Roháčsky vodopád – Roháčske plesá – Zverovka
Estimated duration: aprox. 6 hours.
Estimated elevation of the hiking route: aprox. 730m up and down.

C) Very difficult hiking (departure from hotel 7:30)
Zverovka – Látaná dolina – Rákoň – Volovec – Ostrý roháč – Plačlivé – Smutné sedlo – Zverovka
Estimated duration: aprox. 10 hours.
Estimated elevation of the hiking route: aprox. 1700m up and down.
